Designer Engagement rings - the Asteria Solitaire is a celebration of light inspired by the warmth and beauty of the sun. From the highly polished sunburst radiating from the center stone to the elegantly demure band, each element of this ring reflects light to create a complex play of sparkle. Yet more brilliance comes courtesy of the innovative setting, with its arresting profile of micro-set diamonds and accentuated curves. In our experience, unusual engagement rings like the Asteria are the ones that are most highly sought after.

The Asteria Solitaire is available in 18ct rose gold, 18ct yellow gold, or platinum. Gemstone options include white diamonds; blue sapphires; tsavorites; a combination of rubies and pink sapphires. Bespoke commissions are available including larger center stones - please contact us to enquire.

DESIGNER ENGAGEMENT RINGS - WHY THE ASTERIA?:

Asteria is the Goddess of falling stars and many things astrological. Like the Godess, this ring is like no other. Strong, unique, powerful but yet still has a beguiling feminine charm. The inspired way in which the smaller diamonds are set within lozenges at the side of the setting is truly a site to behold and sets this unusual engagement ring apart. The precious metallic triangles around the center stone resemble the images of the sun especially when drawn by children.

FAQ

Design & Craftsmanship

Questions exploring the inspiration, proportions, craftsmanship and sculptural details behind the product.

What makes Asteria different from most halo engagement rings? +
Asteria takes a different approach to the halo format. Rather than relying solely on a circle of accent diamonds, the design uses sculpted triangular metalwork and a distinctive lattice setting to build depth, light, and character. The result feels more architectural, more tactile, and more individual than most traditional halo rings.
What inspired the design of Asteria? +
Asteria takes its name from the Greek goddess of falling stars. Andrew designed it during an unusual chapter in his life, when he, Lindsay, Arthur, and their two Vizslas, Rupert and Izzy, were living in a caravan while their family home was being built. Life was compressed and at times genuinely hard, but it also created space for reflection. Asteria became a celebration of light and the idea that beautiful things can emerge from difficult circumstances.
Why does Asteria create such a distinctive play of light? +
The ring was designed around the interaction between light, diamonds, and metal. Highly polished triangular forms around the centre stone catch and reflect light from multiple directions. The diamonds and metallic lattice work add further brilliance. Together, they create movement and sparkle that shifts as the ring is worn.
What is the hero detail of the Asteria ring? +
The hero detail is the lattice-style diamond setting on the side of the ring. Many people notice the centre diamond and the radiant upper structure first, but the side profile often becomes their favourite feature. The intricate latticework brings real delicacy and refinement to the overall design.
Why is the lattice setting so unusual? +
The lattice setting combines fine metalwork with precisely positioned micro-set diamonds. Achieving this level of detail demands considerable skill from the stone setter and finisher. Few rings devote this much attention to the side profile, which is one reason Asteria feels so distinctive when worn.
Why did Andrew spend so much time designing the side of the ring? +
Andrew believes engagement rings should be beautiful from every angle. A ring is viewed in motion, held in the hand, admired by its owner, occasionally examined closely. The side profile deserves just as much consideration as the view from above. Andrew designed Asteria as a complete three-dimensional object, not a ring that only photographs well.
What do the triangular details around the centre stone represent? +
The triangular forms create the impression of rays radiating from the centre diamond. They define the character of the ring and reinforce its connection to light and stars. Many clients recognise an echo of the sun with its triangular rays that children draw instinctively, which gives the design an immediate and personal familiarity.
Is Asteria difficult to make? +
Yes. The combination of micro-set diamonds, lattice detailing, and complex geometry demands a high level of craftsmanship. Every element requires careful finishing and precise stone setting to achieve the intended effect. It is not a ring that can be rushed.
Is Asteria a sculptural design? +
Very much so. Asteria was designed as a three-dimensional piece rather than a flat arrangement of diamonds. The centre stone, triangular forms, and lattice setting work together to create depth, movement, and visual interest from every angle.

Information about metals, diamonds, resizing, timings and viewing appointments.

What diamond sizes and shapes are available for Asteria? +
Asteria is available with 0.33ct, 0.45ct, and 0.50ct round brilliant centre diamonds. Larger stones may be possible on request, provided the proportions of the design remain balanced. Round brilliant diamonds are used as standard because they complement the radiating structure of the ring so effectively.
Can Asteria be made with coloured gemstones? +
Yes. Asteria works beautifully with coloured gemstones. Collection options include blue sapphires, rubies, and tsavorites. Each creates a different personality while preserving the distinctive character of the design.
Which metals is Asteria available in? +
Asteria is available in platinum, 18ct yellow gold, and 18ct rose gold. Platinum remains a popular choice for its durability and bright white appearance. Yellow and rose gold introduce warmth and contrast. 18ct white gold is available on request.
Can I choose a lab-grown diamond for Asteria? +
Yes. Asteria can be made with either natural or lab-grown diamonds. Lab-grown diamonds share the same physical and chemical properties as natural diamonds and are graded to the same standards. Please get in touch for current lab-grown diamond pricing.
Does Asteria sit flush with a wedding ring? +
Asteria does not usually sit flush with a straight wedding ring. Some clients enjoy the small gap this creates. Others choose one of our shaped Asteria wedding rings, designed to follow the contours of the setting more closely.
Can Asteria be resized after purchase? +
Asteria can be resized if needed. Accurate sizing before manufacture is always preferable, but resizing is possible in most cases. Please contact us if you would like help determining your finger size before ordering.
How long does Asteria take to make? +
Each Asteria ring is handmade to order in the UK and typically takes four to six weeks to complete. Production times can vary slightly depending on gemstone availability and any design modifications requested.
Can I view an Asteria ring in person? +
Please get in touch and we will do our best to arrange a viewing. We can also provide additional photographs, videos, and CAD renders for clients selecting their ring remotely.
