A little bit of tlc...

Regardless of what piece you possess, there are things you can do to keep your jewellery in the best condition.

• Take off your jewellery before digging up the flowerbeds, tackling the DIY or going to the gym – putting your jewellery under pressure can lead to damage.
• Avoid wearing jewellery when doing the cleaning – some household chemicals just don’t mix well with precious stones and metals.
• Protect your piece by storing it carefully when it’s not being used, preferably in the original box it came in or in a soft, lint-free pouch – to avoid scratching and rubbing.
• When your stone is looking less sparkly than you would like, get a bowl of water and add a few drops of washing-up liquid.  Using a toothbrush, scrub gently behind the stone to remove the dust and debris.  Rinse with clean water, pat dry with a soft cloth and your stone should sparkle once more.
